2020 Speakers Series: Classical Music and Social Justice

During the Fall 2020 semester, the GWSO sponsored a free, public series featuring individuals who are using music to make the world a better place. The slate of guests includes nationally, internationally, and locally prominent musicians whose work address issues related to social justice, racism, inequality, and education, both within the classical music world and beyond.

As a final project, Wheaton students created presentations exploring the work of an individual or organization whose work was particularly inspiring. You can view Wheaton cellist Sarah Simkevich’s presentation on Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road project, featuring an interview with Hadi Eldek, here.
